Examine the Human Mind

Do you want to understand more about people and societies, and why individuals and groups make the decisions that they do? Do you want to use effective research-based strategies to help others? Do you want to empower better decision-making and help others overcome obstacles that negatively impact their well-being? Do you want to promote healthy neighborhoods, communities and societies? Do you want to provide individuals, families, or groups with various forms of assistance, such as financial aid, medical services or counseling? Do you want to work with children the elderly, victims of domestic violence, the homeless, criminal offenders or substance abusers?

At Franciscan University of Steubenville, the department of Psychology is committed to helping you to understand the human person, society and how to best implement change. All of this is done in light of the teachings of the Catholic Church, and in particular by emphasizing the importance and dignity of the human person and ethical behavior.

In John 10:10, we are told: “I have come so that you might have life and have it to the full.” God seems to be summoning us to self-knowledge and growth to become more fully human. As a person moves toward an authentic existence, he/she is moving towards the beauty of God’s image within him/her. Come and join us! Learn more about yourself, others, society and how to make a difference in the world.
