Mariann Hughes ’07

Journalism—and the Catholic ethos at Franciscan University—prepared Mariann Hughes ’07 for her work as associate director for Advocacy and Outreach for the Maryland Catholic Conference. As a journalism major at Franciscan, Hughes worked on the staff of The Troubadour (becoming editor-in-chief her senior year) and found a job at Emmaus Road Publishing.

After graduation, she worked at a small Virginia newspaper, then in the Communications Office for the Diocese of Arlington before arriving at the Conference. She now works at Fidelity Investments and often volunteers with the Diocese of St. Augustine on end-of-life issues. Hughes received the Outstanding Young Alumni Award at the 2016 Alumni Awards Banquet.
