Amber Knorr is joining the Franciscan faculty as a Visiting Instructor in the Fine Arts department. She was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky. She studied Theology and Catechetics at Franciscan University of Steubenville before moving to Florence, Italy, to pursue her Masters’s in Sacred Arts at the Sacred Art School. This figurative art school focuses on St. Pope John Paul II’s Theology of the Body and training artists in the Catholic tradition of Sacred Art.
Amber Knorr held the Artist in Residence position at Franciscan University from 2022-2024, where she taught painting, drawing, and iconography. She now holds a temporary position teaching Visual Arts and the Catholic Imagination at Franciscan.
As an artist, Amber is interested in the exploration of the human figure and the Christian faith. She hopes that through her art, she may put people not only in touch but in communion, in intimacy, with Jesus Christ.
